A letter from the owner

“Of the happiest memories of my childhood, many are linked to Lagoa Velha. The long walks through the vineyards with my father, learning to know the grape varieties from the leaf, watching the vines grow, deciding the right time to harvest… Today we produce wines that stand out for their uniqueness, unrepeatable, the fruit of generations living side by side.”
Carla Neto Third generation

When, in 2001, her father challenged Carla and her husband, Miguel, to do the harvest with him, they too did something different: for the first time, they aged a red wine in French oak barrels. That was the beginning of the first wines bottled under the Quinta da Lagoa Velha name.

Bairrada, birthplace of Portuguese sparkling wine

Bairrada gives the countryits first sparkling wine.

In 1887, Eng. Tavares da Silva began the first sparkling wine experiments at the Bairrada Practical School of Viticulture. More than a century later, Baga — small-berried, with tight bunches — still gives us long-aged sparkling wines, up to 84 months on the lees.
